The Rubus Neomexicanus, known as the New Mexico Raspberry, is a part of the Rosaceae (Rose) family. This shrub can go up to five to nine feet. Despite being a member of the rose family its branches do not have prickles. Its flowers are identified by five white petals and brightly colored stamen.
The New Mexico Raspberry has palmated leaves with about 3 to 5 lobes. Palmated leaves resemble the palm of a human hand and the lobes mimic fingers. The edges of the leaves are toothed which means it has a zig-zag pattern.
We found this bunch of New Mexico Raspberry on Workmen Creek Trail in Young, Arizona at an elevation of about 6800. May 2019.
